The panel will discuss the return of material culture to original owners from three perspectives – archeology, law/diplomacy, and museum curation.


Speakers

Dr. Steven Epstein, an archaeologist, will speak about his work returning contested articles from the Middle East.

Ashley Fry, JD is an attorney at the Department of State who has worked with legal issues of returning items of material culture to their original owners and will add the legal lens to the dilomatic lens.

Dr. Priscilla Linn, is a museum professional who has worked for the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History Anthropology Department and the Department of State. She will be discussing sensitive items of material culture from the point of view of the curator.
