Call For Nominations for the Lourdes Arizpe Award, a AAA-wide award sponsored by the Anthropology & Environment Section.
The A & E Section, through its Lourdes Arizpe Award, has created an opportunity to recognize recent outstanding achievement in the application of anthropology to environmental issues and discourse in international or domestic arenas across all ecological and policy applications. The creation and naming of this award highlights the critical need for anthropological knowledge and perspective in addressing current environmental issues with larger implications for matters of global concern.

The deadline for nominations is June 12, 2007. The recipients of the Professional and the Student categories of the Lourdes Arizpe Award will be presented at a ceremony and reception at the 2007 meeting of the American Anthropological Association, in Washington DC.

The following note includes important information about the upcoming 2007 SfAA Annual Meeting in Tampa, Florida.

Preliminary Program

The Preliminary Program for the Tampa Meeting (March 27-31) has been

completed and a copy is posted on the SfAA Web site. To access the preliminary program, go to: http://www.sfaa.net/sfaa2007.html

Then, click on "SfAA 2007 Preliminary Program." The preliminary program has been posted as an Adobe Acrobat Reader (pdf) file. To find your

session, type your last name using the "find" function under the edit menu of your browser or Acrobat Reader program.

This version includes only the formal sessions (organized and volunteered). Be sure to review the preliminary program carefully. It

is possible that presentation days and times have changed because of necessary scheduling adjustments. In the coming weeks, we will add the dates/times for the various committee/association meetings as well as the socials.

Hotel/Air Travel

The Hyatt Regency Tampa (211 North Tampa Street) will serve as the host

hotel for the meeting. Call 1-800-233-1234 and identify yourself as a

participant in the "Society for Applied Anthropology" Meeting to obtain
